I have succeeded in killing my phone.
Again.
This is the third time in about nine months, but definitely the most spectacular. I managed to fall in a river with it.
A word of explanation: I have spent the last month in the lovely country of Ireland, visiting family. I did not bring a computer, and the only nearby house which even has WiFi is my uncle's.
It is a rather lovely Victorian hunting lodge, which used to belong to my great-grandparents, and stands on the bank of a river. So, a few days ago, I was standing peacefully on the riverbank, making full use of the WiFi to get back to the internet. I was, at the precise moment in question, typing a comment on a post by
lauren3210, which I regret never managed to get posted. Unfortunately, I managed to slip.
Being my unco-ordinated self, I did not fall gracefully. No. My phone flew out of my hand and into the river, followed shortly by me, flailing madly. I found myself standing almost waist deep on the edge of the river, hunting madly for my phone, which had sunk somewhere nearby. It took me at least five minutes to find it, and it has been sitting in the airing cupboard in a bowl of rice ever since. I dare not retrieve it.
All in all, I am utterly hopeless, and utterly without internet unless I borrow my uncle's computer. I am starting to feel the fanfic deprivation.
In other news, I still haven't finished my fic for the hd_fan_fair fest. It's just got a bit stuck. I would normally just sit down and force myself to write, even if it came out awfully, but I can't really do that at the moment.
Also, Ireland, while one of my favourite places on earth, is horrifically wet. I think my bones are rusting.
